Bitrittesi is inspired by our ancestors from Bitritto, Italy. It is an ode to the generations of men and women who came to America in pursuit of a better life.

When they arrived as farmers, they strived to produce the best possible products to provide for their family and community. Now three generations later, we hope to make wines that would make them proud and honor the people of Bitritto, or as they are called back in the old country, Bitrittesi.

A view of Wood Valley Vineyard in Sonoma Valley

Wood Valley Vineyard Sonoma Valley AVA

Our small family-owned vineyard is located in the Sonoma Valley AVA just bordering Moon Mountain AVA. The vines are sustainably grown and farmed with minimal intervention. The vineyard is just over 2 acres. The hillside portion of the vineyard consists of Old Vine (20+) year old Dijon clone Chardonnay. This area sees a cool growing season and microclimate, creating complex acid-driven wines. The valley floor portion of the vineyard consists of 5-year-old Wente clone Chardonnay. This half of the vineyard grows young, vibrant, citrus-driven fruit that is well represented in the finished product.

Tyler Martin Winemaker & Partner

Growing up in Moraga, CA, Tyler has always been in close proximity to wine country. Spending time tasting and collecting wine with his father, he continued to nurture his interest and knowledge of wine. Tyler’s first experience in winemaking came during his internship at Edna Valley Vineyard in San Luis Obispo. As a member of the 2010 Harvest team, Tyler was exposed to all facets of cellar work. The long hours, the constant pump overs, and the sweet buzz of the crush line. He was hooked.

After graduating with a degree in Wine & Viticulture from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, Tyler spent the next year traveling the world gaining experience in both the northern and southern hemispheres. As a harvest intern at Vineyard 29 in St. Helena, he got his first experience with the super-premium winemaking of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. Furthering his winemaking education, he moved to Australia in February 2013 to experience two sparkling wine harvests: the first at Taltarni Vineyards in Victoria and second at Clover Hill Wines in Tasmania. Through all these experiences, Tyler practiced many different winemaking styles and ideologies, which have all influenced him to become the winemaker he is today.

Since 2013, Tyler has been working at CADE Estate Winery on Napa’s Howell Mountain, creating world class Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. He has been the Assistant Winemaker at CADE since 2015.
